IMPLANTS
porcelain crowns
It used to be that when a patient needed a crown or cap, they were only given one option: gold. Gold is an excellent restorative material and is still used today in certain circumstances. Some patients would even rather have gold crowns and like the look of gold when they talk and laugh. Society in general however, prefers restorative choices that are white in color. Porcelain allows the patient to have a perfectly strong and long lasting crown while providing superior aesthetics. Our office is dedicated to providing our patients with this cosmetically pleasing choice when needing a crown.
Implants have been available to patients for over 20 years, but not until recently have they become mainstream to the public. A dental implant is a very sophisticated modality of treatment and involves several steps. A very simplified explanation goes as follows: Let's say a patient has a missing tooth. If they are a good candidate, a dental implant can be placed into the bone, allowed to heal, and then a crown is fabricated on top of the implant, thus the patient now has a tooth again. The overall procedure is almost painfree and can restore chewing and beauty to one's smile. In addition to restoring implant cases since 1997, Dr. Mattingly frequently takes continuing education courses in this exciting field to stay abreast with current technological advancements.
